Stuck, not broken

Enabling clients to let go of the distress of difficult memories

Imagine a future unencumbered by your past, where you can learn good things about yourself from the life you have lived, instead of dragging the misery of the past behind you. Where you can actually “let it go”…

Stuck, not broken

Enabling clients to let go of the distress of difficult memories

Imagine a future unencumbered by your past, where you can learn good things about yourself from the life you have lived, instead of dragging the misery of the past behind you. Where you can actually “let it go”…

I firmly believe that every person can heal, that the brain has an amazing capacity to resolve trauma and that EMDR (Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)  is the best way to allow difficult memories to become un-stuck.

Welcome!

I am Dr Caroline Lloyd, a Mental Health General Practitioner and EMDR therapist.

I have been a GP for over 30 years. I have seen a lot, worked in many different aspects of Medicine including surgical assisting, sexual health, cosmetic dermatology, the racing industry, corporate health, the weight loss industry as well as the salt of the earth standard family medicine. In every one of these jobs I have heard my patients life stories of trauma, courage, pain and survival. In my desire to help them with their distress, I studied Hypnosis and then a Master of Counselling. During placement for my Masters at a NFP focussing on family violence, a supervisor suggested EMDR training as the most effective way to help. And I found my calling.

Now Caroline uses EMDR every day, with clients with many different kinds of distressing memories. Caroline's work in private practice and at Cabrini Women’s Mental Health Centre in Elsternwick, Melbourne, and online doing Group EMDR.

Caroline takes a personalised, empathic, thoughtful approach to each client, to maximise the benefits of EMDR in a safe and nurturing environment.

Caroline works with people who feel stuck with memories that are persistently distressing or bothering them, and are ready to let them go and learn something better about themselves.

Every day Caroline is inspired by the change she see's in clients, their courage and persistence through their difficulties.

Every day Caroline see's the incredible change that is possible in the human brain. EMDR provides the environment for that change, allowing memories that are stuck with the feelings, body sensations  and beliefs attached to them, to become just ‘something that happened’. When the memory loses its potency, then the person can move forward and create a new, positive  understanding of themselves.

Caroline has a firm commitment to further education and a thirst for knowledge. Caroline has done the accreditation for the EMDRAA (EMDR Association of Australia). In recent times Caroline has done courses on EMDR in Groups, EMDR 2.0, EMDR for addiction, EMDR and Eating disorders, and qualified for the ANZAED registration.

Caroline is a Fellow of the RACGP, registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Agency), PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) and ASPM (Australian Society of Psychological Medicine).

Caroline has shared her knowledge on podcasts for the general public and webinars for GPs and loves to talk about EMDR to anyone who will listen!

When not talking about EMDR, you may find Caroline in the garden, playing with my crazy dogs, baking or on the back porch reading (yes, often about EMDR…)
